HERSCHEL SPACE OBSERVATORY: A WINDOW TO INFINITY

Launched in June 2009 The Space observatory Herscher, is taking its first data mapping the extragalactic space HERMES. With them we learn more about the formation and evolution of galaxies in the distant universe by studying the spectrum of far infrared, a region invisible from Earth. This satellite
European Space Agency (ESA), is equipped with instruments SPIRE and PACS, in which participated the canstrucción Institute Astrofísco de Canarias (IAC), which provide highly accurate data in the spectral range Far infrared and submillimeter waves, practically unexplored ahora.gracias this satellite, we expect to find a hundred thousand galaxies in the far infrared. The light from these galaxies, has been slow to reach us a 10,000 million light-years, implying that we observe as they were about 4,000 million light-years after the big-bang .
