RECORDING MUSIC FIRST SOLAR

Using mathematical theory combined with satellite observations, a team of solar physicists at the university have concluded that these sounds harmonious are caused by the movement giant magnetic loops in the solar corona, the outermost regions of the least understood layer of the solar atmosphere. Most importantly, the team studied how this sound is decaying, giving an unprecedented view of the physics of the solar corona.

High-resolution images taken by satellites show that the solar corona is full of large magnetic structures in the form of banana, known as coronal loops. It is believed that these giant magnetic loops, some of which 100,000 km in length, play a fundamental role in governing the physics of the corona and are responsible for enormous explosions that occur in atmospheric atmosphere known as solar flares.

string or wind

has also been observed that these giant coronal loops undergo periodic oscillations of movement that may resemble a shell by tapping a guitar string (transverse oscillations) or by blowing a wind instrument (oscillations longitudinal). With the length and thickness of the fixed rope, the tone of the note is determined by the string tension and tone is composed of harmonics of the oscillation modes, according to the University of Sheffield.

In this sense, the solar atmosphere is constantly invaded by the music of the coronal loops. Coronal music also gives scientists a unique and unprecedented tool to study the solar magnetic atmosphere, as the movement of these loops is determined by its local environment. This technique is known as the solar magnetosismología and is very similar to the methods used by geologists studying earthquakes.

sun Physics

The study of the magnetic solar atmosphere will help the team, headed by Professor Robertus von Fay Siebenbürgen to make new discoveries in the understanding of one of the key unresolved central modern astrophysics, namely, heating plasmas of the solar corona, and reveal the underlying physical processes: There are millions of localized magnetic explosions that release the energy needed to keep the crown in millions of degrees and this is due to the physics related to the propagation of waves from inner regions of the Sun?.

The discovery was presented by experts from the University to an audience of parliamentarians from both the House of Commons and House of Lords as well as scientists and senior representatives from such prestigious institutions as the Royal Society, after being selected by the Parliamentary and Scientific.
